1/21/07 I am doing another code release since there has been so much done since the rudimentary release in December.  The project has been restructured into multiple components.  If you have any problems loading it up or compiling using Visual Studio 2005, please let me know and I will help you out in any way I can. I have a Skype account now, so if you want to chat at any time, contact me via email and I can give you my Skype address.

The goal of this project is to modernize the ancient C code (without losing the enhancements others have made over the past 10 years!) and to restructure it to be more user-friendly for everyone. With luck (and some help!), we will bring the old EmlenMud game engine source code into the 21st century using modern technologies such as ASP.NET/AJAX/C#/VB.NET.  The desired end-product will consist of an interactive, stable gaming platform where builders can easily create, admins can add or remove game modules on-the-fly, and players can socials and have a great time.  The sky is the limit with the current web technologies (well, actually time is the limit here...)  Also, the ASP.NET/AJAX interface will enable the game engine to be run on any decent web hosting site.

General Information (12/16/06)
  1. If you don't have the Consolas font installed, you can download it here.
  2. Type 'help' to view all implemented commands. Socials are working too :)
  3. For a recent contract, I wrote a lightweight .NET component that enables two parties to talk (peer-to-peer connection) over the internet. Even if the EmlenMud project doesn't end up using real-time audio for voice, I am thinking there should be some audio component included. Personalized taunts, perhaps? Heh... hopefully everyone has grown a bit older and wiser over the last 10 years.......
...Then there is the issue of advertising. I will be up-front and say that I forsee potential for admins and game hosts to incorporate targeted ads into their game's web site. I am in the fortunate position where I am able to select (with approval) what ads are shown, and where. If you feel like the ads become obtrusive or invasive, please let me know. My intent is to provide exposure to products and services that you may not already know about, to services or web sites that may be fun or useful, or to products that may be exceptional or unique.
